Minsk

Minsk is the capital and largest city in Belarus. In the 1990s Minsk has gone through a lot of changes and improvements. The old Hotel Minsk was demolished and a sports complex has been constructed in its place with 2 hotel towers and a business building. Minsk is also a major industrial city in Belarus. It has over 250 factories and plants. However the recent industrial revival did not lead to updating technologies, therefore much of the local industry is not highly competitive by international standards. Minsk is also the largest transportation hub in Belarus. Minsk is Moscow of Belarus, its big, its a living city. People are friendly, you just have to get to know them. But isnt that the way things are everywhere you go? Minsk has a lot of tourist attractions, from WWII museums to monuments and great restaurants. Its a place where you can go and forget about all the trouble, relax with the woman you love, and just enjoy your stay.

There are many ways of transportation in the city. Busses, taxis, subways, trams. The best way of transportation would probably be taxi. If you do not know the town, you would need a taxi, they are not that expensive, and they get you to the right place, without you having to get lost.

The restaurants in Minsk are really good. Most offer the traditional Russian cuisine, but some offer some more western food. The prices are right, and many times are really cheap. Its a good idea to go to a few and enjoy the food. Also there are some McDonalds in the city, and these offer a lot better quality food, than the ones in US. It might be hard to believe, but its really good.

The weather in the city varies. Though usually summers are hot, but not as hot as in Florida. Get to nice 70s and maybe sometimes even 80s. But thats just perfect I think. Winters are really cold, but the residents of Minsk are used to this weather, they lived through it their whole lives, and the streets are usually clean, transportation keeps going as usual. So my advice would be to go there during summer, its beautiful, you can be outside taking walks through beautiful parks and visiting monuments without caring how much longer can you stand in the cold. Now if you really want to, you can go there during winter and experience a true Russian winter, and yes those James Bond movies you have seen were right. Its full of snow and cold air. By snow I mean a lot of snow. But go ahead and visit it yourself and experience Russian life in Minsk.

A great city to explore with a beautiful Russian woman by your side, what else is there to ask for?

"Aleksandrovsky Square"

The official name of this square was, The Central Square. Later on it has been renamed to Aleksandrovsky Square, probably due to its closeness to the residence of Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus' President.

The Square has a beautiful fountain in the middle, at the top of the fountain are a Boy and a Swan. These were designed by the Italian Bernini. Recently the public garden has been completely finished.
